History
Ajob was formed in 2001 by two of the founding members: Labik and Salim. Over the next two years, the band went through several changes in the line-up before the stable line-up was established. Three of the members of the band Saion, Bariul, and Resalat had worked together previously in Migraine during the late 1990s, and it wasn’t a surprise that they had decided to work together again since, they were already great friends, talented, and worked together very well. Even though Labik didn’t have previous experience in playing with Saion, Bariul, and Resalat, he was the one who had invited the guys to play in the band. Momtaz was also invited to play around the same time. Labik’s love, admiration, and respect for Lalon had influenced Ajob’s lyrics and music – as he was the driving force for the band. Also, having a musician as experienced as Harold Rasheed in the band, helped the band to be guided in the right direction.
Ajob was signed by Ektaar in 2003. They got the freedom to do every song in the album the way they wanted to do it, so the band had produced their own songs in the first album (with the help of Buno with mixing). And even though three of the members were living abroad even when the first album was being recorded, they worked very hard for one year and got all the songs recorded for their debut album.
Achievements
Ajob has participated in more than 30 concerts so far.
Some of the most memorable ones:
STM hall with Dolchut and Bangla
ISD concert held in 2003
Ajob and Arnab in concert for Pohela Boishak
Future Plans
Ajob is about to release it’s first album this May (2005) and they have already started working on their 2nd album! Since, the guys are scattered around the world now, it’s hard for them to do concerts together...but when they get together during semester breaks, they plan on doing more concerts, and record more songs for the next album.
